IN-TOWN MISSIONS
Westfork Church Partnership Atest

What’s the story?
It is our hope to provide an opportunity for the MMCC community to serve here in town on a consistent basis. After all, close to home is where Jesus tells us to begin our ministry, “…and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)   With that command in mind, we began our partnership with Westfork Church, an inner-city church with a purpose of reaching the community for Christ, just this past April. Our desire was to use our resources be it our time and/or finances to assist Westfork in accomplishing it’s mission. One of the simplest ways for us to get involved was to serve food to the church’s youth group, (toddlers-teenagers) which meets every Wednesday night. This meal is often considered by the kids to be the best food they eat all week! This past quarter we were also able to purchase and donate necessary items to provide for one of the church’s young members and her new baby girl.

How do I get involved?
This next year we will continue on with our Wednesday night meal service as well as provide a Saturday work day at Westfork, which will take place this fall. We are also looking for anyone who may want to step into a leadership role and assist with the organization and operation of this ministry.

SHORT TERM MISSIONS

We believe that one of the most valuable experiences that a community can have is to serve together. There is an incredible work of growth and unity that God does when members of His body decide to take a week or more and devote it to His service. And so we are committed to providing this experience through short term missions trips.

Tecate, Mexico
This trip to Tecate, Mexico (located 45 miles East of San Diego just South of the border) is specifically for families, although all are invited to participate.   We partner with an organization called Wolrd Servants who specializes in the preparation and execution of short term trips, see www.worldservants.org for more information regarding it’s philosophy ect.   While in Tecate we stay and work at San Juan Bosco Orphanage, a home for boys ranging from 6 yrs. to 17 yrs. old.   This past year our team consisted off fourteen members from the MMCC community.  Our work projects included the building of a deck and overhang for one of the dorm buildings at the orphanage as well as the planting of thirty or so trees on the property.
